Immerse yourself in an event of galactic proportions as Rochester, NY, gears up for the ROC the Eclipse Festival, a three-day extravaganza hosted by the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) set to take place April 6-8. This festival promises a unique blend of music, community and plenty of scientific fun, making it a must-attend event for locals and visitors alike.

 

Things To Do:

No matter which day you choose to ROC the Eclipse, you’ll find fun activities fit for the entire family!

  • Activities - Stop by to enjoy Planetarium shows throughout each day, live stage entertainment lineups, activities in the Lab, outdoor telescopes, Science on a Sphere programs and shows in the Electricity Theater, sponsored by GreenSpark Solar.
  • Exhibitors – Browse exhibitors who will be on-site, featuring hands-on activities that teach visitors about the science behind the Eclipse! Groups and organizations like the Rochester Institute of Technology General Science Department, University of Rochester Department of Physics & Astronomy, Empire Space and Backyard Lunar Lander will be at the event.
  • Food Trucks – Rochester’s favorite food trucks will be parked around the event offering up the best bites in town! Enjoy Eat Greek, Chef’s Catering, Rob’s Kabobs, Al Dente Mobile and more.

 

 

Special Highlights:

  • VIP Kick Off – Don’t miss the start to the festival with a VIP Kick Off intended for those 21+. Science lovers, space enthusiasts and RMSC fans are invited to enjoy a night at the Strasenburgh Planetarium, with an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, guest speakers and shows celebrating this amazing once-in-a-lifetime event. Note: Admission for this event is not included in festival pricing. Must be 21+ with a valid ID to enter.
  • After Dark: Galactic Getdown - Get up and move your feet in the RMSC planetarium with an eclipse-themed silent disco! Featuring a cash bar, planetarium show, and space-themed trivia, this celebration is the perfect way to boogie your way through the festival. Visit the ROC the Eclipse website for more information.   • Special Exhibitors and Speakers - Learn more about the world above us, the geology of the moon, astronomy and more with special speakers, including Dr. Phil Plait and Cate Larsen (@groovygeologist on TikTok). Speaker space is limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis. 

 

Viewing the Eclipse:

On the last day of the festival, head out to the lawn of the Rochester Museum and Science Center and don your safety glasses at 3:20pm to view the Eclipse! The festival is happening right in the center of downtown Rochester and offers a perfect spot to experience this one-time celestial event.

 

Ticket Information:

Tickets for ROC the Eclipse Festival are available for purchase online here, with options for single-day passes or a $50 festival pass. Group rates are available for groups over 20, running at $15 per person. RMSC members receive free admission to the festival.
