Downtown Restaurants

While in town for a business meeting or corporate event, you'll find a melting pot of restaurants near the convention center, hotels, and other local attractions. Our downtown restaurants feature diverse cuisine, from regional to contemporary Asian, as well as handcrafted cocktails and beer and sweeping city views.

Convention Center Area

Find top-of-the-line restaurants within walking distance of the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center in the heart of downtown near and along the Genesee River.

Branca Midtown features contemporary Italian dining for lunch and dinner with outdoor and indoor seating, including private dining. For a bit of everything, choose between seven kitchen vendors at The Mercantile on Main, an urban food court setup, which offers all types of cuisine, from Indian to seafood, and even a cocktail lounge.

Native Eatery & Bar serves locally sourced American cuisine, microbrews, and crafted cocktails perfect for happy hour and beyond. Near the convention center, you’ll also find plenty of bars and breweries like Roc Brewing Co., with space for gatherings. Sit outside on the patio during the summer, and inside, there’s an indoor dining area, beer hall, and bar.

You can’t visit us without stopping at Nick Tahou Hots, west of the river, home of the original garbage plate. The casual eatery offers the regional dish, which comes with your choice of meat on top of any combination of french fries, baked beans, macaroni salad, and/or home fries topped with hot sauce.

Sweeping Downtown Views

If you seek quality food and drinks and views of downtown, check out the Strathallan Hotel & Spa, which has a rooftop bar called Hattie’s with panoramic views of the city. For food, head inside and dine at Char Steak & Lounge

Along the Genesee River is the Genesee Brewing Company featuring a menu of locally crafted beer and pub-style cuisine. Enjoy city views while dining atop the rooftop seating area. Also on the river, Pane Vino on the River features indoor and patio seating, a bar, and live music.

While in town, grab a seat at the table and enjoy a business trip in style at our much-loved downtown spots.
