Visit Rochester, the official tourism promotion agency for Monroe County, is pleased to announce that Rachel Laber has joined the organization as Director of Communications and Public Relations.
In her new role, Laber will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s external communications and public relations. As Director of Public Relations, Laber is regularly reaching out to regional, national and international media to share Rochester’s story, and help media and visitors alike discover the activities and attractions that make Rochester an ideal destination.
Most recently, Laber worked at Dixon Schwabl as a public relations and social media manager. In that role she was responsible for the creation and implementation of social and digital media campaigns, as well as the day-to-day management of medium-to-large public relations accounts. Before joining Dixon Schwabl, Laber was an account executive at Marina Maher Communications, a mid-sized PR agency in New York City.

Laber received a Bachelor of Arts in communications and media studies from SUNY Geneseo and a Master of Science in public relations from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She is active in the Public Relations Society of America, Rochester chapter, the Rochester Advertising Federation and SUNY Geneseo Alumni Council, and is also a member of the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley’s marketing committee. She resides in downtown Rochester with her fiancé, Rich.
