The M&T Bank Clothesline Festival is Rochester’s longest-running celebration of the arts! With the Festival open to artists from across the US, the variety and creativity is astounding. Here are 5 things you should know before exploring the Clothesline Festival:
1. COST
The $7 cost to Clothesline includes museum admission, a $20 value! Clothesline is the museum's largest fundraiser with art by over 300 artists each year. In 1956, the first Clothesline Festival really did have artwork and paintings hung from clotheslines. At that time, there were just a handful of local artists, but the camaraderie of the Festival is legendary. Wear your walking shoes and see original work in ceramics, painting, printmaking, fiber, wearable art, photography, glass, wood, metal, leather and mixed media.
Tickets must be purchased in advance.
2. PARKING/SHUTTLE BUS
Shuttles run 9 am–6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Park and ride on free, fully accessible shuttle buses.
Parking for those with an Accessible Parking Permit is available near the shuttle stop at the Gleason Works on University. Shuttle bus pick up/drop off is at the MAG Prince Street gate. Bike racks are available at the Prince Street Gate as well. Bring your own lock.
3. ENTERTAINMENT
All day, both days, there will be live music in the Sculpture Park.
