Rochester has been selected as the host location for three upcoming NYS Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) state championships in 2025, 2026 and 2027. The Rochester area will host the statewide athletic championships for Boys Golf, Boys Volleyball and Girls Swimming and Diving.

These events will bring thousands of student athletes, coaches, staff and families to Monroe County over the coming years. The bids for these events were produced by the Rochester Sports Commission, the sports development arm of Visit Rochester, in partnership with Section V and the championship host locations of Mill Creek Golf Club, Roberts Wesleyan College, Finger Lakes Community College and Webster Aquatic Center.

“We are thrilled to host multiple NYS Public High School Athletic state championships over the next three years,” said Don Jeffries, President & CEO, Visit Rochester. “Hosting these future sporting events in Monroe County will deliver significant economic impact through visitor spending at local hotels, restaurants, retail and athletic facilities. Monroe County’s selection as the host destination for these events is a testament to the excellent athletic facilities and venues in our community, and the work of the Rochester NY Sports Commission to secure these events.”

“Section V Athletics is very excited to host multiple NYSPHSAA championships over the next several years,” said Kathy Hoyt, Section V Athletics Executive Director. “It gives us the opportunity to showcase the great venues we have in Section V, as well as our communities who support our student athletes.”

NYSPHSAA BOYS GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS (June)

Mill Creek Golf Club will be the host location for the NYSPHSAA Boys Golf Championships in June 2025, 2026 and 2027. This event will bring together 175 of the best golfers in the state and their coaches. The Boys Golf championship will occur concurrently with the NYSPHSAA Girls Golf State Tournament, which will be held at Wild Wood Country Club in Rush, which was previously awarded the Girls Golf event.

NYSPHSAA BOYS VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS (November)

Rochester will make history as it hosts the NYSPHSAA Boys Volleyball Championships for the first time ever in November 2025, 2026, and 2027. The championship will take place at Roberts Wesleyan University and Finger Lakes Community College, with 16 teams and 240 athletes competing for the state title.

NYSPHSAA GIRLS SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS (November)

The Webster Aquatic Center will once again host the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championships in November 2025, 2026 and 2027. The Webster Aquatic Center previously hosted this event in 2022, 2023 and 2024 - so this repeat selection is a testament to the venue’s proven ability to host premier swimming events. The upcoming tournament will welcome 850 athletes and coaches to Monroe County.

The selection of Rochester and Section V as the host for these three major NYSPHSAA state tournaments over the next three years highlights the community’s strength in venues, community support and commitment to providing athletes with an excellent competitive experience.

Sporting events like the NYSPHSAA statewide championships play a significant role in attracting new visitors and tourism spending to Monroe County. These events will bring visitors from across New York State who will then stay in local hotels, dine at local restaurants and use other goods and services in the Rochester area. The total economic impact of the tourism and hospitality industry in Monroe County is more than $1.3 billion and the industry is responsible for nearly 20,000 jobs.
