Four large events will bring out-of-town visitors to Rochester, NY this upcoming weekend, January 17- 20. Upcoming events include the annual convention for the New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs, the Can-Am Volleyball tournament, the MyHockey Empire State Cup tournament, and a FAST Swim Meet.  In all, these four events are expected to draw more than 6,500 event attendees to the Rochester area. These events will utilize many local hotels and event facilities, including the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center, Bill Gray’s Regional IcePlex, and the Webster Aquatic Center, among others.  

New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs

The New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs Association promotes and encourages agriculture, horticulture and the domestic arts through annual fairs of member organizations, as well as further the development of fairs and expositions across New York State. Agricultural Fair organizers from across New York State will convene in Rochester for the group's annual convention.

2020 Pace BootLegger Can-Am Volleyball Tournament Returns to Rochester, NY

The 2020 Can-Am Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Pace Bootlegger, will once again return to Rochester, January 18-20, 2020.  Can-Am is one of the largest boys’ volleyball tournaments on the east coast, hosting 106 volleyball teams from states ranging from Florida, Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio and more. Athletes, their families and coaches will also be visiting from Canada.

Attracting top youth talent, the Can-Am is one of nine bid tournaments held nationally to qualify for entry to the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior Nationals. The top three teams in all five age divisions will win bids to the 2020 USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championship in Reno, NV.

The tournament originally began in 1987, quickly becoming one of the largest tournaments of its kind. In 2005, USA Volleyball approached the tournament organizers to make it a national qualifier, and it has been so ever since.

2020 MyHockey Empire State Cup

The competitive hockey season is in full swing in Rochester, and the 2020 MyHockey Empire State Cup is one of the largest tournaments this year. The Empire State Cup will bring an estimated 2,500 athletes, coaches and fans to Rochester this weekend. This USA Hockey sanctioned tournament will attract 47 teams from out-of-town, with players traveling from New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Ontario, CA for a weekend of competition.

2020 FAST Niagara Junior/Senior Power Point Meet

Fairport Area Swim Team (FAST) once again hosts the Niagara Junior/Senior Power Point Meet at the Webster Aquatic Center. Fairport Swimming strives to make a positive difference in the lives of its team members by promoting good sportsmanship, biomechanically sound techniques, nutrition, healthy lifestyle, time management, commitment, responsibility, love for the sport of swimming and self-respect.

Meetings, conventions and competitions like this weekend’s events offer a big boost to the overall economic impact of the tourism industry, which is more than $1 billion in Monroe County. The tourism industry in Monroe County is responsible for nearly 20,000 jobs.
