The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) has returned to Rochester, bringing more than 500 students to the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center and the historic Eastman Theater for its annual All State Festival and Winter Conference. The conference takes place December 2–5, returning to Rochester following a 2020 cancellation.

This year, the conference is excited to welcome 500 students performing in 5 ensembles: All State Vocal Jazz Ensemble, All State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble, All State Mixed Chorus, All State Symphonic Band, and All State Symphony Orchestra. Students and faculty are visiting Rochester from across New York State. NYSSMA student participants represent the very best student musicians in New York State.

"We are excited to return to Rochester and look forward to seeing and hearing our all state students perform live,” said Dr. David M. Brown, NYSSMA president.

According to the Eastman Theater’s requirements, all students will be vaccinated and those attending performances must wear a mask.

NYSSMA is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education. Its mission is to advance music education across New York State.

Meetings and conventions play an important role in the overall economic impact of tourism in Monroe County, which prior to the pandemic was more than $1 billion annually.
