Visit Rochester Awarded Platinum Choice Award by Smart Meetings Magazine
Tourism promotion agency recognized for outstanding service to visitors and meeting professionals
This recognition by Smart Meetings, the meeting industry’s premier resource for meeting professionals, acknowledges outstanding service by destination marketing companies and Convention Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) from across North America, as well as top hotels and resorts across North America.
Visit Rochester was one of fewer than 200 organizations recognized out of the thousands of qualified properties and associations who were considered for this honor. Additionally, Visit Rochester is one of just two Convention and Visitors Bureau in New York State, with the other being NYC & Company, to receive this recognition.
Winners of the award have demonstrated exemplary standards of excellence ranging from ambience, amenities, breadth of resources, facility quality, guest services, meeting space and packages, recreational activities, restaurant and dining options, and technical support. Votes are cast by industry professionals, the Smart Meetings editorial team and readers.
“We’re thrilled to see Visit Rochester recognized by the meetings industry on this competitive list,” said Don Jeffries, president & CEO of Visit Rochester. “To be one of just two New York State destinations recognized for this industry honor is indicative of the excellent work of Visit Rochester’s professional meeting and convention sales team.”
“These premier hotels, venues and destinations stepped up during a challenging time and helped to deliver safe, engaging experiences despite uncertainties. We commend their dedication to serving their customers and the entire meeting professional community,” said Marin Bright, Smart Meetings founder and CEO. “We encourage our audience of planning professionals to consider these remarkable supplier partners for meeting destinations as we return to meeting in person in the coming year.”
The tourism and hospitality industry plays a major role in the Greater Rochester economy. Prior to the pandemic, the economic impact of tourism and hospitality in Monroe County exceeded $1 billion, and the industry was responsible for 20,000 jobs. Rochester's meetings and conventions business played a key role in this economic growth, and this segment of the industry will continue to fuel recovery and attract even more visitors to Rochester in the years ahead.
