Rochester to Welcome United States Tennis Association’s Wheelchair & Adaptive Tennis Symposium

The United States Tennis Association (USTA), USTA Eastern, and additional partners are launching the first ever USTA Eastern Wheelchair & Adaptive Tennis Symposium at Midtown Athletic Club, in Rochester NY, on Thursday, June 2nd, and Friday, June 3rd.

The Adaptive Tennis Symposium focuses on inclusivity. This event, the first of its kind in New York State, will train coaches who normally instruct able-bodied players how to empower people with all abilities through tennis.

The training and symposium will feature specialized training sessions delivered by authors of the National Adaptive & Wheelchair Training Curriculum along with demonstrations by world-class athletes, including Paralympians and former Top 10 Doubles Player, Vania King.

Event organizers are partnering with Rochester Accessible Adventures (RAA) and Greater Buffalo Adaptive Sports for the training and symposium. Rochester was selected as the host location for this event thanks to USTA’s strong partnerships with groups like RAA and Midtown Athletic Club.
