Cyclocross is best described as an off-road bike race mixed with a steeplechase running race. Riders race laps around a short course (2.5 to 3.5km / 1.5 to 2 miles) that usually features some pavement, some dirt, some woods, some steep hills and for good measure, some obstacles thrown in that require riders to dismount, work their way through and then get back on and ride some more.

60th Annual McQuaid Invitational
Rochester, NY looks forward to hosting the McQuaid Invitational. This year marks the 60th Annual McQuaid Invitational, the nation’s largest high school-sponsored cross-country meet. The event takes place at Genesee Valley Park on Saturday, September 27th with the first race going off at 9:00am. Athletes come from twenty states and two Canadian provinces, with a rough estimate upwards of 7,000 athletes.
