A Word from our President

Dear Friends,

We hope to see many of you in two short months when the Finger Lakes Choral Festival meets for our Welcome Back and First Rehearsal, June 15, 10:00 A.M. at Asbury First United Methodist Church in Rochester.

We have a most exciting summer planned, with new options for you to consider!

Choose weekly rehearsals to learn at a more relaxed pace and socialize with singing friends old and new. Or, choose from two Intensive Concert Weekend Packages, one with hotel and tourism options and one without. Either way, a memorable musical experience in NY’s beautiful Finger Lakes region awaits you with the Finger Lakes Choral Festival.

Our repertoire is beautiful, unique and exciting to sing. Award-winning NY composer Glenn McClure’s “St. Francis in the Americas: A Caribbean Mass,” is accompanied by the Panloco steel drum ensemble and pianist Ines Draskovic. Pablo Willey-Bustos, tenor, returns as our soloist.

Ariel Ramirez’s globally famous “Misa Criolla” is a Latin-inspired folk mass in Spanish, with traditional instruments and Andean rhythms. Mezzo-soprano Alicia Barry joins Pablo Willey-Bustos as soloist.

Once again, we’ll perform in the historic Hochstein Performance Hall, built on the site of a stop on the Underground Railroad in the heart of Rochester. The concert on July 28, 2024, 4:00 P.M., is free of charge. Donations of food, clothing, and personal care items accepted at the door benefit Action for A Better Community.

The Finger Lakes Choral Festival welcomes all singers with choral experience to prepare and perform great music, from masterworks to moderns, in the company of great friends each summer. New members are invited in every section! You’ll find the registration form on our site. Please join us!

We look forward to seeing you!

Peace and Joy,
Sandy Moncrief
