Tradeshow-style Expo Showcases Rochester’s Tourism Treasures
On Tuesday, September 17, Visit Rochester will host “Explore Rochester Under the Dome,” a tradeshow-style expo designed to introduce the business community to the many restaurants, wineries and breweries, attractions, hotels and businesses that are members of Visit Rochester, and that are active in drawing tourism to Rochester.
Building on its prior year’s success, this year’s event has expanded from 50 exhibitors in 2018 to 75 exhibitors in 2019, and Visit Rochester is partnering with the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Young Professionals and Yelp to expand the reach of this event.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting the second annual Explore Rochester Under the Dome event,” said Don Jeffries, president & CEO, Visit Rochester. “This event will encourage local residents of Rochester and Monroe County to be a tourist in their own town, and discover the many incredible museums, hotels, restaurants and other businesses who create memorable experiences for the nearly two million visitors a year who come into our community.”
Attendees to the event will enjoy live entertainment, beer and wine tastings, the chance to win raffle items from local businesses as well as business networking. All exhibiting businesses will offer a raffle prize with a value of $25 or more, and every attendee will be entered into the drawing for those raffle items.
“Last year was a lot of fun,” said Carol White Llewellyn, Director of Marketing at RCTV, and chair of this year’s event on behalf of Visit Rochester’s Visitor Industry Council. “We had people climbing rock walls, enjoying tastings and trying virtual reality for the first time. This year, we are making a real push to encourage the exhibitors to make their presence at the show interactive. We expect the businesses to get some great leads, the attendees to discover some great information about businesses they weren’t aware of before, and everyone to have a wonderful time!”
Explore Rochester Under the Dome takes place from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, September 17 at the Dome Center located at 2695 E Henrietta Road in Henrietta, NY. It is free to attend, but registration is requested in advance.
