RPO LAUNCHES FREE MOBILE APP
New app offers concert calendar, ticket sales, program notes & more

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) announces the launch of its new mobile app (application), available for free download for iPhone and Android smartphones and tablets. Available at the iTunes app store for Apple devices and at Google Play for Androids, the new app allows users to view the RPO concert calendar, purchase tickets, watch videos, read conductor and musician bios, access RPO social media feeds, read program notes, and get directions and parking information. Patrons can also sign up to receive notifications about special offers and upcoming concerts.

"We are extremely proud to launch the RPO's app and mobile website with the help of InstantEncore," explains RPO VP of Marketing and Communications Katie Sejba, who feels that the app reflects the orchestra's commitment to making its information and content more accessible and engaging. "It was created with our patrons in mind, and seamlessly connects them to the orchestra and musicians they love."

InstantEncore is the world's leading provider of web and mobile technology for the performing arts. Other clients include the Cleveland Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.

"The arrival of our new Music Director signals the beginning of a new era of community engagement at the RPO, and the launch of our app is another example of the RPO finding alternative ways to interact with the public," says RPO President and CEO Charles Owens. "Embracing change and innovative technologies will be guiding principles of the Ward Stare era, and this is an important step in that direction."

Funded by an anonymous donor, the app is available by searching "Rochester Philharmonic" in app stores, or by visiting rpo.org to access the mobile version.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has been committed to enriching and inspiring our community through the art of music since its founding in 1922. The RPO presents approximately 150 concerts and broadcasts a year, serving up to 200,000 people through ticketed events, education and community engagement activities, and concerts in schools and community centers throughout the region. Recently appointed 12th Music Director Ward Stare joins the ranks of former notable RPO music directors, including Eugene Goossens, José Iturbi, Erich Leinsdorf, David Zinman and Conductor Laureate Christopher Seaman. Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik has earned a national reputation for excellence in pops programming during his 20-year tenure with the RPO. With Michael Butterman as Principal Conductor for Education and Community Engagement (The Louise and Henry Epstein Family Chair) - the first position of its kind in the country - the RPO reaches more than 13,000 children through its specific programs for school-aged children.
