Opening Weekend Celebration at The Strong June 11 & 12

Enjoy out-of-this-world adventures at the Rockets, Robots, and Ray Guns and The Force at Play exhibit opening celebration at The Strong® museum on Saturday, June 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. Take pictures with science-fiction characters, dress-up like an alien, and make sci-fi-inspired crafts.

Pose for pictures with members of the 501st Legion as they stroll through the museum in full Star Wars costumes. Say “nuqneH” (a Klingon greeting) to the costumed enthusiasts portraying the brave Commander Deanna Troi character from Star Trek and Missy, a timelord from the British television series Doctor Who. Snap fun photos with an alien and a Martian when they land at the museum.501st Legion

Create your own set of unique sci-fi popsicle stick puppets to take home. Come in costume or visit the alien dress-up area to transform into a creature from a faraway planet.

Then blast off into the imaginative universes of science-fiction classics in the original Rockets, Robots, and Ray Guns exhibit. Learn about the ways that science-fiction books, toys, movies, and video games have captured people’s imaginations and shaped the way they play. Also, see how the Star Wars movie franchise revolutionized play and playthings in the new The Force at Play exhibit. Explore the evolution of the beloved franchise, view dozens of artifacts from The Strong’s collections, and play with Mr. Potato Head’s evil counterpart—Darth Tater!

The exhibit is produced by The Strong’s International Center for the History of Electronic Games in partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology. It remains on view through September 5, 2016, and is included in general museum admission fees.

Programs underwritten in part by Delta Air Lines, the official airline of The Strong.
