CITY OF ROCHESTER TO HOST INTERNATIONAL CYCLING –

The Rochester Twilight Criterium

Welcomed back in 2015 by the City of Rochester and the surrounding communities, the Rochester Twilight Criterium is expected to draw crowds of over 25,000 spectators on its event date of Saturday, August 13th 2016!

With amateur racing during the day, the 1 hour women’s pro race hitting the streets at 6:25 p.m. and the 2 hour men’s pro race starting at 8:05 p.m. the day’s events promise to be as exciting as ever.

The event has been placed on USA Cycling’s Professional Road Tour (the highest level of professional cycling in the US) and will be the only pro road race in the United States the weekend of August 13th.

Just as in past Rochester Twilight Criterium events, this year’s edition will feature top male and female athletes from around the globe

Criteriums are best explained as a uniquely American-style bike race. Courses are designed on city-center streets and staged on spectator-friendly course loops typically about one mile in length. The racing provides incredible lap-after-lap excitement highlighting the athletes’ extraordinary bike-handling skills combined with explosive speed! In short, what NASCAR is to automobile racing, criteriums are to bike racing. Spectators can watch the fast-paced action for free just inches away from these amazing professional athletes!

We are also announcing a new event in conjunction with the Criterium – The Golisano Children’s Hospital Gran Fondo

Details to follow at the press conference.
