The weekend of January 6 is shaping up to be a busy couple of days at Bristol Mountain, a ski resort in the Finger Lakes region that offers 1200' of vertical, 2 high speed quads, & state-of-the-art snowmaking on 35 trails.. 

Friday, January 6, 2017- Skiers and Snowboarders will be trying to break the Guinness Book record for the World’s Largest Ski  Lesson and World’s Largest Snowboard Lesson at Bristol Mountain.   As part of the National wide and International January Learn to a Snowsports initiative that the ski industry promotes every year, Ski areas around the US and Canada are hosting this world record event at the same time in their respective time zones.  “We are offering 100 Learn to Ski and 30 Learn to Snowboard packages on Friday at 1pm.  Guests have to be checked, fitted for their equipment and at the Launching Pad Learning area by no later than 12:30pm so we are asking them to start arriving by 11:00 a.m.  

Detailed record keeping is mandated by the organization.   All ski resorts have to have impartial witnesses, stewards, a 30 minute video, witness statements, and photos of the event to authenticate the event toward the record.

January 7-8, 2017- Over one hundred and fifty Freestyle athletes from around the Northeast including Stratton, Killington, Sunday River, White Face, Sugar Bush, Seven Springs, Pa will be competing at Bristol Mountain this weekend in the Toyota Freestyle Fest.  This competition is free for spectators to watch.  Currently five members of the US Ski Team (Freestyle) came out of the Bristol Mountain Freestyle program coached by John Kroetz.  They are Jon Lillis, Dylan Walczyk, Morgan Schild, Harrison Smith and Chris Lillis.

January 9, 2017 – US Ski Team Members Jon Lillis, Morgan Schild, Harrison Smith and Chris Lillis will be at Bristol Mountain for the Ski With A Champion fundraiser.   The cost to be on the US Ski Team and pursue Olympic dreams is very expensive.  Bristol Mountain Freestyle Coach, John Kroetz, came up with the idea of Ski With A Champion to support the US Ski Team athletes as well as athletes in the developmental freestyle programs which is the path to becoming a US Ski Team member. The cost to ski with J. Lillis, Schild and C. Lillis to ski at Bristol Mountain from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Monday is $250 per person.  This event also includes a light breakfast, lunch and an autograph and selfie session.  Due to a recent ankle injury Harrison Smith will not be skiing but will be at Bristol Mountain to meet guests and for media interviews.  For details on how to register or to make a donation please contact Bristol Mountain at 585-374-6000.
