Rochester in 1838 Diorama Live Restoration

The RMSC is undertaking a project to stabilize and restore its "Rochester in 1838" diorama. With the help of grant funding from NYSCA and the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, the RMSC will renovate the enclosure and create new interpretive features. The work of restoration artists will be on view to the public in a fishbowl-style "living exhibit" display surrounding the diorama. From now through the end of the summer, visitors can track the progress of this exciting project in real time!

You can see the diorama-in-progress whenever you visit the museum, but to see the artist at work, stop by during these times:

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 9am–5pm
  • Saturdays, 9am–2:30pmĀ
