 About the Awards

Catalyst Award

This award will be awarded to an individual, group of individuals, organization, or corporation, which best develops and encourages an environment that promotes innovation in science or technology or that has utilized science and technology to form a lasting impact on the Greater Rochester region. We will look for projects, systems and policies that foster creativity; that maximize the contributions of the project, company, organization etc. and its impact on the reputation of our region; and that demonstrate a realized or potential humanitarian and/or environmental benefit for our region. The award will be divided into 3 industry pillars that are unique strengths for the Finger Lakes region. One award will be given in each pillar:

  • Optics/photonics/Imaging STEM Catalyst
  • Agriculture/Food Production STEM Catalyst
  • Next Generation Manufacturing and Technology STEM Catalyst

 STEM K-6 Education Award

This award will recognize innovative teaching in science, technology, engineering and/or math education. The educator/administrator is recognized for innovation in inspiring students to understand, appreciate and apply STEM fields from kindergarten to 6th grade.

 STEM 7-12 Education Award

This award will recognize innovative teaching in science, technology, engineering and/or math education. The educator/administrator is recognized for innovation in inspiring students to understand, appreciate and apply STEM fields from 7th grade to seniors in high school.

 STEM Higher Education Award 

This award will recognize innovative teaching in science, technology, engineering and/or math education. The educator/administrator/dean is recognized for innovation in inspiring students to understand, appreciate and apply STEM fields at the college and university level.
