The sixth annual George Eastman Museum PhotoFinish 5K will take place on Saturday, October 1, at 8 a.m. With a scenic course through Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts, the run/walk is open to everyone, including wheelchair users, and raises funds for local nonprofit organizations that make Rochester a great place to live and work. Individuals and teams can register now at eastman.org/5k.
The PhotoFinish 5K embodies both George Eastman’s philanthropic spirit and his ideals of health and wellness. Since beginning just five years ago, participants in the Eastman Museum’s annual 5K run/walk have raised more than $1 million to support dozens of nonprofit organizations in Greater Rochester, from affordable housing and educational support to cultural enrichment and medical research. The PhotoFinish 5K is unique in that each runner/walker can join multiple teams, raising money for many diverse causes.
Any nonprofit organization can form a team, and race participants can select the nonprofit organization(s) for which they raise funds. People can join the fun as a race participant or donor.
Race registration fees also support the Eastman Museum, which produces the community-wide event in partnership with YellowJacket Racing, and with sponsorship by Fleet Feet Sports and Wegmans.
This year’s 5K run/walk route has been certified to be accurate by the USA Track & Field. Starting and ending at the George Eastman Museum, the 3.1-mile course is designed to take in a variety of other community landmarks, including the Memorial Art Gallery, the American Red Cross, School of the Arts, Rochester Museum & Science Center, and Strasenburgh Planetarium.
