Rochester's coldrush season 2012 is packed with activities! Experience the 17th Annual Mendon Ponds Winterfest, a celebration of the outdoors and the winter season, or The Ganondagan Winter Games with Native American winter activities featuring the popular dogsled race.  Rochester is proud to host the New York State Special Olympics in 2012 featuring a plethora of outdoor sports. The Lakeside Winter Celebration features the annual Polar Plunge and the Chilly Chili Challenge, one of Rochester's premiere family wintertime events. There's also the trendy New York Ice Wine Festival at Casa Larga Vineyards, or grab your green and come downtown with family and friends to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Rochester's St. Patrick's Day Parade!

Rochester is a mid-size city that maintains a small-town feel, yet offers big city culture. Our museums are world class - displaying a variety of exhibitions from The Wizard of Oz at the National Museum of Play, to photographs from the W.M. Hunt Collection at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film.  Traveling Broadway shows are presented by the Rochester Broadway Theatre League, and live theatre productions are presented by Geva Theatre Center, Rochester's leading professional theatre.  5000 years of art are on display at the Memorial Art Gallery, and the sounds of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra majestically fill the recently renovated Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre.  

This metropolitan region situated on the southern shore of Lake Ontario is also part of New York's Finger Lakes region, which Shermans Travel ranked as a Top Ten Value Destination of 2011.
