All About The 2019 Rochester International Airshow

The Rochester International Airshow is back! Watch the United States Air Force Thunderbirds and their F-16 Fighting Falcons take the skies at the Greater Rochester International Airport on August 24 and 25. First-time attendee? We're sharing what you need to know before you go with the following answers to some frequently asked questions.

What are the hours of the airshow?

Gates will open to the general public at 9:30 a.m. and will close at 6:00 p.m.

When will the USAF Thunderbirds take to the sky?

Flying begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Thunderbirds as the final performance of the day. The flying portion of the airshow concludes around 4:00 p.m.

Where should I park?

Parking is available offsite at the Rochester Tech Park with free shuttle services and reserved parking at the airport.

  • Rochester Tech Park is located at 789 Elmgrove Road, Rochester, NY 14624.

  • The Reserved Parking lot is located on Scottsville Rd on the south side of the airport.

What can I bring?

The following items are allowed in the airshow:

  • Portable chairs/lawn chairs

  • Blankets

  • Umbrellas

  • Small bags--subject to search

  • Cameras & video cameras

  • Baby strollers

  • Non-motorized wagons

  • Wheelchairs

Do I need ear protection?

Airshows can be very loud and exciting! It is encouraged to protect your hearing, especially for young children.

Can I re-enter the airshow?

You cannot leave and re-enter the show freely.

How else can I experience the airshow?

Looking to experience the airshow beyond general admission, check out these featured tickets/experiences to enhance the day:

  • Photo Pit-Want an unrestricted view of the showline, near the Thunderbirds parking area? This is it! Special parking, early entrance, water, soda, box lunch, and tent are included. This is adjacent to the Rowe Photo Booth where you can try Canon lenses and camera bodies for FREE! 

  • VIP Experience-The VIP Experience is an exclusive area on the Flightline providing a truly unique area with padded seat, beverages, continental breakfast, catered hot lunch and afternoon snacks. VIP parking is included. Some restrictions apply.

  • Reserved Seating-Reserve your seat on the showline in front of the Thunderbirds. Some restrictions apply.

Other Tips!

  • Wear comfortable shoes. Be prepared to walk - the runway is lengthy.

  • You may bring 1 (one) sealed water bottle per person into the airshow.

  • Don't litter! Litter can be easily ingested up into jet engines. Please throw all litter into a garbage receptacle.

  • Remember to bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. There is little shade available at the Rochester International Airport.

  • There will be several food and beverage booths available.
