For Immediate Release - Rochester, NY

New York State Future Business Leaders of America (NYS FBLA) to hold annual

leadership conference at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

On Wednesday, April 6 through Friday, April 8, 600 of New York State's finest high school

business students will arrive in Rochester, NY for the annual New York State Leadership

Conference and Competition. The three day event will include seminars, leadership training, and

heavy competition in dozens of categories. Students from around the state will gather to hear

dynamic speakers talk on a variety of business and leadership topics including ethics and

finance, as well as topics geared toward the individual chapters and FBLA growth at the local

level.

The competitive events include both team and individual events. Of the many team events, a

sampling of them includes Marketing, Business Ethics, Emerging Business Issues, Parliamentary

Procedures, and Management Decision Making. Individual competitions include, but are not

limited to: Accounting, Business Law, Personal Finance, Public Speaking, Computer

Applications, Web Design, and Desktop Publishing.

In order to compete in many of these competitions, students first had to win at the district level.

Students were prepared for their respective competitions by their chapter advisors, in conjunction

with local business leaders and owners. NYS FBLA realizes the importance of involving local

business owners and entrepreneurs in the development of tomorrow's business leaders. Judges

for this year's competition includes business professionals from corporations across New York

State.

Chartered in 1964, NYS FBLA now has 5,000 student members from across the state, ranging

from 7th to 12th grade. FBLA is a dynamic organization of young people preparing for success

in business, government, and community. Our mission is to bring business and education

together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development

programs.
